Rapunzel may be hard to impossible to find locally this year since it is a new release. I've been watching for it, but haven't seen it yet. I almost ordered the seeds from TGSC this year when I saw it in their catalog, but by the time their catalog arrived, my grow list already was pretty firm and I was trying really hard not to add anything else to it. Usually, with brand-new varieties, it can be 2 or 3 years before you see them in stores available as plants, if they ever make it into the stores at all. With thousands of tomato varieties available, most retailers tend to stick to the tried and true varieties for which there is already a strong demand. It is hard for new varieties to fight their way onto the retailers' list. Usually they have to build a following with either home gardeners or online retailers before the big growers will take a chance on them. I'll keep watching for them and let you know if I see them anywhere.

Thanks, Dawn. I did not realize that this plant is new. I may order seeds online. That is, unless my entire garden drowns and I give up for good. I have raised beds and good drainage so maybe the plants will make it. I just hope I do! Boredom interspersed with terror is not a healthy way to live!

Donna, You're welcome. I think Rapunzel was in field trials in 2014, so likely the seed just hit the retail market for 2015. Both Totally Tomatoes and Tomato Growers Supply Company have it, and probably other retailers as well. Terra Nova has introduced a lot of cool veggies in recent years. I've seen various descriptions of the long trusses, ranging from 40 tomatoes to 70 tomatoes per truss. I'm inclined to be skeptical of the higher number, but even 40 would be a beautiful truss of tomatoes. We could grow Rapunzel with Snow White and Super Snow White, along with some of the tomato plants from The Dwarf Project, and have ourselves a Fairy Tale Garden. That is, if the weather lets us have a garden at all.

I totally agree with you about boredom interspersed with terror, not to mention having to stomp around in mud and water all the time. I try to go out to the garden for a few minutes every day but it is impossible to do anything out there unless I can garden while swimming. My raised beds are islands in the ocean formerly known as my garden. Without raised beds, we'd be giving the last rites to a bunch of plants.
