Columns or no columns?

Hello, we have a dilemma. Our house was built in 1991 with a 40's vibe, detached garage, hardwood floors, lots of crown molding. We are remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms and refinishing the hardwood floors to natural. We have four interior columns when you enter the front door. Are these considered outdated? It screams tuscan to me. What are you thoughts?
