Incrediball hydrangea

I recently purchased an incrediball hydrangea with the intention of putting it in my front lawn. After purchasing it I started rethinking layouts and am now wondering if it's possible to keep an Incrediball in a large container. It came in a one gallon pot and I've temporarily put it in a 4 gallon pot. Can anyone provide input on whether the plant will flourish in a large container rather than being planted directly in the ground?
