The plant looks okay now but with a bit more growth a larger pot would help. Those plants are small now but I suspect the root mass is quite large in the pot.

An orchid mix would be okay and provide good drainage.

It looks like the "woody thing" is part of the old plant stem and the small plants are offshoots from it. I'd only remove the old stem if it comes away easily.

Thank you Tropic, I am planning on repotting today and really inspecting what is going on under the soil! I have a pine bark soil mix that I want to try to use for the repot.

Almost a year later. Sorry for the poor lighting, it's sleeting or I would have taken this outside! I've been flushing it completely when the soil is dry, about once every week and a half. Maybe in a month I'll repot and see what the root situation is like. I might need to size up? Thoughts?

I wouldn't repot it into a larger pot. I've seen far larger Anthuriums growing in pots that size. It will be fine in that pot for the time being. It looks like it's doing great. :)

I wouldn't do anything at present. When you stand back and look at a potted plant, in general, it should be about 2/3 plant above the soil line and 1/3 pot (roots and potting mix). For some plants, it will be 50:50 (half and half). This is not a hard-and-fast rule - there are certainly exceptions - but it is a good general rule-of-thumb. When you look at your overall plant, it is about 3/4 pot and 1/4 plant. So it has plenty of growing room left. It is a cute little plant! I am a big anthurium lover, myself. :)

Hi: I recently bought a red Anthurium in 4 " pot. Should I repot? It has 15 stems 6 blooms in 4" pot. It has doubled in size in a month . THANKS
