I Have No Idea Where To Put My Kitchen or Cooktop?

My wife and I just bought a house, and we're moving the kitchen to a bigger room. We're struggling with where to put the sink and range - I didn't realize it would be this hard. If this were your kitchen, where would you put the rangetop (standalone), sink, etc? I would love your opinion.

I don't want to get too wordy here, but here are some thoughts/challenges:

- we room has a curved wall, which is where the range or sink would (probably?) go

- we love to cook and entertain, so I'm concerned about flow/congestion

- the typical "triangle" doesn't seem to fit so well here - but the kitchen is small enough that it doesn't seem to matter

This is how the kitchen sits in the larger house - the front door is at the bottom, and the room above the kitchen is the family room and dining room (top left).

Couple of thoughts.

1 the microwave is too far from prep areas so maybe put it in a lower cabinet next to the prep sink

2. If this were my home I would think about using the curved area for a banquette

3 shorten the island (make it square) remove the seating so guests sit at banquette & put cooktop in island.

HI -- Looks very good so far . Don't get hung up on that triangle thing --- that is just a term of measure and not a shape . Make all the cabinets tall full storage such as pantry beside the wall oven/microwave section but put the oven to the left ... good location for those appliances because they are the least used . Because you are having an induction cook top . it will be a good location for that . Get the Thermador Induction cook top ... I think it is the one where you can place the pot anywhere on it ... it is about $ 6000. but worth it . You could do a pop up vent so that window can look very open without a hanging vent hood if you wish . The sink /fridge area is good too. Glad to see you are putting gables around the fridge with full top cabinet . To reach the things in that top cabinet , do pull out rack insert .. you will love it . In fact do as many pull outs as possible and also do as many drawers on the bases as possible . Put an electrical pop up socket (s) on the island (about $250. ) In fact do all drawers on the island if you can . Do a regular single sink ,maybe with a guberator on the island ... you will be glad you did and you have the room . This is going to be a great kitchen ... love it !
