You can see the nodes swelling and going to try to branch from there, on that bigger one. I think I would try to clean it up and possibly cut off the blackened area if you can, without disturbing those nodes. Can't tell about the one in lower middle of pic.

That tip could be cut or it looks like it will dry up and it will fall off in time. Using my fingers, I would give it a little pull and see if it might give.. If not, I would keep an eye on it. Then decide to cut, seal...

The indication of the nodes pushing new branches is a good sign that it is trying to grow and become a beautiful tree!!!

I havent seen them ,It is great! In this case I would change my advice. Since the area is pretty close to the swolen nodes I would pay atention and use sulfur or cinamon in the black zone once the branches sprout out. In case of doing it before the nodes explode , do it carefully and be precise , applying the fungicide only in the balck zone.

I would not mess with it right now. It is trying to grow. You risk damage to those side shoots/buds as well as jarring the plant and breaking the new, fragile roots.

If you were an experience grower, you might try to clean up the dead portion at the top. Otherwise, give it some time and patience.
