The rain has let up a little. Almost three inches in the rain guage since yesterday! Might get some sun today ...

My rain came in the early hours and was more bluster than rain (and that is okay with me as a half inch was really more than I wanted today). I have been pouring out of my rain gauge .....two, three and four inches for a long time now...................wish I had have kept count. Sun is shining intermittently and I am enjoying that. I have so many things sitting in containers that really need to go in the ground, but too boggy to plant so will have to wait. Maybe this week if I get only small amounts of rain.

I see blue sky in the west, 1.9" here. We always get less this spring.

Super rainy here in the DFW area too, but that got us FINALLY out of the drought and filled up our lakes, so I feel bad complaining. But I sure would love to see some sunshine!

I hate to complain too, but I think I'm beginning to mildew.

Does your ark have room for two of every plant as well as animals? I just pulled a smoke tree out of the ground. I planted it last year and babied it all year. At the beginning of this spring, it looked great with a lot of new growth. But I looked over at it today and all the leaves had turned a rusty brown. When I pulled it out, it was dripping and the hole started filling with water. Rain is great, it's needed, but I've had enough. And it's raining right now.

Smoke trees like rocky north or east facing slopes on hills. Standing water BAD. I just planted one. I better go check on it . But If there is standing water there where I planted it, we are in trouble and over half the state is under hundreds of feet of standing water

I'm just wondering when I can get back to work or even cut my lawn as we are at the end of a cul-de-sac and 10 feet lower so all the water from the 1/8 mile street comes underground and back up just in front of the house and into the backyard and down to the stock tank and into the creek. I like artisan wells but not in my yard.

ya'll need to send some rain to the coast, I had to water the plants today and have to water more tomorrow. Thunder, clouds, no rain.

A friend drove to Beaumont from San Marcus on Monday was stopped for 2 hours due to a high water, and then took a detour and was stopped by a house in the road and then as she got closer to Beaumont there was a dead alligator in the road. Another friend went to see a father in-law north of Houston (I think ) and had a tornado close encounter. Me I got another 1/4" . We just get little pieces. My rain tanks are not even full.

mara, I wish I could send you some. Rained last night and again just a few minutes ago. My feet were itching when I got home from the store. I took my shoes off and sure enough, webs were growing between my toes. ;)

Today's rain gauge showed another 1.25" just for the past day. We have had standing water in the yard for over two weeks (we're on the next-to-the-lowest spot on the street). We're starting to grow algae in it. I can only imagine the mosquitos, chiggers, ticks and snakes that are just multiplying out in that swamp. DH hasn't been able to mow in almost 3 weeks, the grass is a foot tall and it all just looks like a mess. It WILL NOT stop raining at my house.

The only positive note from the yard is that the flowers, trees, shrubs and potted plants are going crazy. I bet my cannas have grow 2 feet with all of this rain. I need for it to stop raining for at least a week, so we can dry out and mow, but the forecast is now showing more heavy rain for Sat/Sun.

I've got a stinky swamp next to my driveway franksmom. I did mow Monday night (pushmower at that) and it was a bear. I had to do narrow strips and clean out the discharge all the time.
