I'm open to the idea, and I hope more people will enter this discussion. Taking the CAPS on the road occasionally can't help but increase its "visibility" and possibly lead to greater attendance. I am almost at the point of not caring, to tell you the truth. Something has to change to make the swap worth attending.

BTW, I called OMSP and complained about the lack of parking at our pavilion. I was told parking had been closed to that area for years, but our group had somehow always been granted access by the gate attendant. If & when we return to OMSP, we will have to opt for another pavilion, probably near the entrance to the Peavine Falls access road if we want any peace & quite.

I can also advertise it among Master Gardeners in Cherokee and DeKalb Counties. I think the Cherokee County people in particular would come to the swap, lots of real plant addicts in that group! And Centre is just 20 miles away.

I am so sorry to hear things didn't turn out well for the last swap. Have have been busy wrapped up in family and life and have been unable to get online often.

I am all for changing the site and what ever the group decides is fine with me.

I talked with the MG president tonight and she is very interested. The MGs might sponsor the event and help spread the word through the MG associations in other counties. We can try it this fall and see how it goes. Having some organized support might help.

When Master Gardeners (always avid plant people!) from other counties like Cherokee and DeKalb work the Master Gardener Helpline here in Gadsden, I have been mentioning the possibility that we may have the fall swap here in Gadsden. They always show strong interest in attending. If we have it here, I think there will be quite a few attendees that are not on this forum. So much the better, IMO.

I have spoken with the President of the Etowah County Master Gardeners Assn. - she had no problem with us having the swap there. I spoke with Betty Hall, who has control over the actual grounds - she had no problems. I consider the facility secured. I do not think it likely that they will change their minds, especially since last time went so well. Even the worst case scenario - we cannot get access to the fenced in area - I have the keys to a trailer immediately adjacent where we would have access to a restroom, refrigerator, and microwave! And loads of parking! But I think it very unlikely indeed we would not have access.

Access to a "restroom, refrigerator and microwave"? I'm sold. Let the swap begin!

Battery powered radio! Or at least a Saturday where they have a late kickoff. The Master Gardeners I speak to about the swap show considerable interest, so I hope to have a large turnout. I was speaking to one this morning who is from Marshall County, she had a lot of praise for the Alabama Gardening forum, says she gets commonsense answers from it. I forgot to ask her what her screen name is.

I understand that Alabama's Oct. 10 game will have an afternoon kickoff, if that helps.
