Herringbone Tile

Hey all -

In the process of picking design for a new build. Have decided to go with white subway tiles for my backsplash and around the showers in the guest bathrooms (we don't have a huge budget).

I would like to incorporate some herringbone pattern, but wanted to make sure I wasn't making a mistake. We are going for a transitional feel (located in the SE USA) and want to make sure herringbone doesn't feel too modern.

Am currently choosing between doing a white beveled subway tile in herringbone pattern as a backsplash. What do you think? My other option is to do the herringbone as the bathtub surround in either (or both) of the guest bathrooms.

The rest of the kitchen will have white shaker cabinets, stainless appliances, hardwood floors. Also am making the cabinets on the island grey to tie in with the white/grey theme throughout the house.

Please let me know if you think the herringbone is too modern or not a good fit.

Thanks!
