I use a bait type product which has worked well. You do have to be sure of the species cause they don't all take the same bait. I was able to ID my fire ants the moment one bit me.

There are also barrier type products that work well but you have to know where they're coming in. Should be pretty easy for a mobile home.

Thousands back in the nest, a few in your house. Spraying them is kind of a waste of time. They're back in the nest growing more. Getting rid of water sources and food of course helps a lot. A few ants means they're just looking around. A lot of ants means they found something they like.

The definition of "pet safe" and even "people safe" doesn't always mean 100%. It's normally more like won't kill you in an hour. If you look up the MSDS for the product (all products like this are required to have a MSDS) you can find out exactly what's in the product and from there research test data. It's normally pretty scary though.

Zzackey, if you're sure that they're fire ants, go out and get a canister of AMDRO fire ant bait.

Locate all of the mounds in the vicinity of your mobile home and gently sprinkle around each one. The granules will be taken into the chambers of the nest rapidly. Do NOT use Amdro inside the home.

You may need to sprinkle more in a few weeks, but it's better to apply it very cautiously so that they don't move from the location to another one.

Do not use grits, corn meal, boiling water, or other remedies as all they do is convince the ants to move a few feet away. Don't disturb the mounds when you apply the Amdro and just be patient for a couple of days. I've had very good luck with it.

Waterbug had great advice....a few ants inside but lots and lots in the nest. I wouldn't do anything inside but maybe some caulking. Attack them where they live.

I have removable screens in the windows. That's where they are coming in. It's about 10-12 ants every day in each window and the door. I'll get some Amdro. Thanks for the advice, you two.
