I got it from overseas, Europe. I got it as it was species. But now I will let go of it. Thank you for your input Donna.. I guess I was just hoping otherwise.

You might want to wait for at least one more opinion, I wouldn't want you to trash something unless you were 100% sure, I could always be wrong but in the meantime keep it far away from your other hippies...☺☺

If it is a species, you can quarantine it until it blooms then self it. The seedlings will not have the virus. In that way you not lose a valuable species.

Thank you Donna and Maida.. I don't think species are self fertile for most part. From what I heard, pollen will carry the virus and so I can't use it. I did think of quarantine, but I as most of what I grow now are species, I am hesitant to take a chance..

Radha, I agree with Donna - it looks like virus to me as well. Luckily, you caught this and can prevent the spread to your other bulbs. I understand your concern as you have worked hard to build your collection of species - which are not always easy to find. Hopefully, it won't be to difficult to replace this one. - J

It appears in the photos to have the mosaic virus.I hope you haven't had it among your other Hippeastrum.Unless you have a small double,sealed entranced door greenhouse you won't be able to isolate it enough to keep vectors from infecting your other plants.A single bulb from Africa infected over a thousand bulbs in a single season in my care.You would want pollen donated TO you in the case of your infected plant being a parent.

Thank you. It was a new bulb, and was apart and as soon as the leaves came up I kept it away and now is discarded. Thank fully it was on the other side of the house and the rest are well.
