Very pretty. Where are you growing it. I'm trying to learn how to deal with these plants. They are new to me in Florida.

You are right Arthur. It appeared that way on the tag buy I thought it was mis spelled on the last part.

I only grow them mounted. They love the texture of a palmetto tree. Those on trees must be tolerant of the lows of our Florida winters. Myrm. tibicinis will manage those lows. Others will not tolerate the winter lows and must not be mounted on trees. Give them Catt light, feed and water. Tibicinis has an 8' spike so allow for that in planting. I did not know that and a while back I'd train the spikes with 2 or 3 radical turns.

Tibicinis on a tree needs to be planted 6 or 7 feet up. After a few years the spikes can get very long. 8 to 10 ft. Then if you do not plant it high the flowers will be on the ground. But for the first 2 or 3 years you think it is too high as the spikes are not at full length yet.

Thanks Harvey. I have a large Date Palm in front of my house. It faces SW and I thought the tree might serve well. I'd have to climb a ladder!

I have mine on the east side...It takes 4 hands and 2 ladders. Not much work. Do not use wire! Could kill a tree. I add a pinch of sphagnum between the plant and tree just above the roots. It would like your tree. But I think it would like east better. If west is part of the deal, water a lot. 2 times a day for hoy dry summer days...Especially in the beginning...This orchid in the thread would die of cold on the tree...but tibicinis will be fine.
