CHAMAEDOREA SEIFRIZII dead reed clean up

Hi, I was looking for advise as to ridding of the dead reed in the pot. Is this possible and how is it done? It takes up a lot of space (half of my 12 inch pot) that I might make room for even more growth. I am looking to re-pot very soon this next week

What do you mean "dead reed"? The stem on the right has what looks like a dried leaf sheaf around a green stem. Although I can't see the top of that stem the visible part is still green. But if it is dying off then there's no problem just cutting it out.

My apologies, I'm not explaining my correctly. The root ball in the pot. Half of the root ball doesn't grow reeds anymore. I would like to cut that out without damaging the remainder so it can have more room to advance

I wouldn't disturb the roots if the plant is doing good. Just cut the dead off above ground.

I'd agree, better to leave the rootball alone.

Also,you can peel those sheafs off. Sometimes those sheafs harbor pests. and then when peeled,it also looks nice -all green stems.
