Prairie Moon Nursery has lots of wildflower seeds. Select Seeds offers heirloom seeds plants. Seeds are slow. You might want to try a couple of perennial plants this year as well as the seeds. High Country gardens has hummingbird plants, and has a sale on right now.

If you have room for a tall vine, try the red honeysuckle, 'Major Wheeler', blooms all summer. Hummers love it, eat on it, hide in it, jump out at each other from it. Agastache "Ava" is a sure hummingbird plant for me, starts blooming at the end of June and blooms til hard frost. In October the very last little hummer is still visiting it. Both of these give some flowers the very first year and grow fast. Monarda is another hummingbird plant, spreads like crazy if you need a lot of coverage. Bees love both the Agastache and the Monarda.

There's plenty of wildflowers up in the mountains where I was camping this weekend, and LOTS of hummingbirds (I didn't think they liked it up that high...there's still a bit of snow on the ground!). Just not sure I'd be allowed to 'harvest' anything without getting in trouble with the law and/or property owners without some sort of permission or permit at least.

That must have been a thrill. I hope you made notes on what plants the hummers were visiting.

Not really. I didn't even SEE them, but I could hear them. Most of the flowers up there were some type of blue 'bell' flower, Indian paintbrush, purple clover, and yarrow.
