I am California city dweller with single family house and a small lot. House has concrete walkway on all sides of house and little back yard with nothing planted except around the edges. Have some potted plants

Because of the drought, we have been trying to save waste water as much as possible. We have buckets in the shower where we collect the water and feed it back to plants. So far it was me manually hauling the bucket to desired place and emptying it. Only problem is bucket needs to be emptied immediately as I have no other storage place.

Getting the plumbing changed is too expensive, but hate to see lot of fresh water just draining away.

I am considering buying a cart similar to store shopping cart, put a 20 gallon tub with a spigot on it. My thought is to empty buckets in this tub and when required move the cart to appropriate place and attach a drip hose to spigot to water the plants. I'll create multiple zones of drip sections where I can easily attach spigot. Two-three feet height of typical cart should give me some gravity for water flow.

I did consider bigger tanks, but most of them are tall. If I want to empty bucket into that tank sitting in the cart, its going to be too high to lift that load.

Does this sounds reasonable? I saw some posts around the web stating pressure may not be enough. Alternative solution to drip might be hoser pipe and control rate using spigot. Would it be too heavy to haul the cart in dirt because of it's small wheel size and weight of water?

Any suggestions/experiences/improvements highly appreciated.
