I keep hanging on to the drought map in an attempt to try and not focus on the negativity surrounding endless mud, swarms of bugs and so many cloudy days. Even today I must use the sump pump and get the water away from the foundation of the house. I want to complain,but cannot. We're not really flooded in comparison to everyone else because we live on a slope.

Good thing it didn't rain on the first of the month or we would of really got it.

Amazing what difference a month can make. Water is still coming down here off and on. Luckily I live on a hill but it is still soggy.

I looked at my potatoes today and the bugs have really done a number on the tops. I am afraid the bottoms are just going to rot setting in waterlogged clay.

too wet and cool to get any growth on the rest of the garden. I did get a few squash yesterday and a few turnips. beans are blooming and the plants are probably a foot tall.

The flies are becoming quite a challenge to keep them out of the house every time I open a door.

I know lakes Canton, Foss, and Skiatook are still not full, but I think that is all. Any others in state not full? Lake Optima doesn't count!

I saw that they actually RELEASED water from Altus lake yesterday. Im not sure when that last happened, but I'm sure it was a site to see for the locals.

The improvement is amazing. Just think---some areas that have been in drought for five years now are out or are very close to getting out of drought. I hope one day soon we'll see nothing but "white" on the Drought Monitor Map.

There's an old saying here in the southern plains that "it takes a flood to end a drought". I never gave that saying much thought until we moved here. Of course we had drought in Fort Worth during my lifetime, and occasionally the Trinity River flooded, but it was rather rare in both cases. Since moving here, we've seen far too much of the endless cycle of drought and flooding. I don't know if it is getting worse, or if I just notice it more since moving to Oklahoma.

Lake Texoma is so far beyond full now that it is hard to remember how low the water was just a few months ago. I have no idea what kind of shape our local, private lakes are in, but if they overflow, they more or less run straight down to the Red River. At this point, that's not a good thing.

Skiatook lakes watershed is so small that really if it doesnt rain in Hominy the lake gets no water.
