Planting a Celeste Fig

Hello! I'm new to these forums and new to Richmond, VA (Zone 7), where it seems like absolutely everyone is growing a Celeste fig in their yard.

I have what seems like a great spot for one but am wondering if the area is too small. It is on the west/southwest side of the house, pretty well sheltered, but only about 7 ft wide by 11 ft long. The nursery tag claims the tree only grows to 8 ft, but I'm not sure I believe that.

If frequently and vigorously pruned, could a Celeste fig be grown in such a small area? And -- importantly -- even if it *could* grow, would it end up looking bad in such a cramped spot?

Thanks!

Jay
