Judging by hoosierbanana's comments they probably live in a colder zone

In zone 7, Celeste will be fine as you can see with your neighbours

If your worried about the spacing (which I assure you is not a problem) you can train it to more of a tree instead of a bush and it'll grow upwards 10-12' or more

Prune off any side branches lower than 3ft off the ground (as it grows , not all at once) and your tree will be even NICER than the others even in a small space (even though that's not even that small) :D

I am in 7a. Wondering your zone now ; ) Richmond had a tough winter also and I am willing to bet any younger Celestes (or any unprotected fig tree for that matter) are starting from the ground.

The point I was making is there are smaller, more productive varieties that would fit into the space better and handle frequent pruning better.

Yep, I bought one -- it was 75% off, so only $7.50, and I figured I'd try to find a place to put it in our small yard. I think it was on sale because it has two main trunks and one of those is basically dead. I thought I'd prune that off and grow it as a single trunk in a smaller area and see if I can make it work....

(I want to put it in this spot because it's the southwest corner of the house, so the best sun of anywhere, and it's very sheltered, with our house on one side and the neighbors' on the other... Fingers crossed!)
