The 2 doors are now in place. I don't understand the idea of 1/4" piece of trim between the doors. That won't give me any more room than there is. It is what it is at this point. The two possibilities I have come up with so far are the Baser door handles and the Brass Accents D07-L150X. Both have very low profiles but neither one has locking ability which is ok because I can lock the deadbolt on the security door. But both are extremely expensive and can't get them to match. One would fit one door but not the other and vice versa.

the door jamb needed to be deeper. that was the point of adding another layer of wood to the jamb and then remount the exterior door. technically this would really require you to rework the whole door jamb. however, it sounds like you have solved your issue although at a higher cost tan you would like.

I have a double front door and the jamb is 10" deep to accommodate both doors. one of the doors is 2 1/4" and the other is 1 3/4".

each of doors have dead bolts since I typically leave the interior door open during the day. the exterior door is wood, but it has a very large glass insert.

the thick interior door's purpose is to block out noise since it is solid wood.

Oh no the security door is in the frame tight. There is no room to add any wood and would not want to take it out and reinstall. That would really mess up the door jam as it is bolted in there good.

I really would like to find a less expensive handle or knob for these doors though.

I have security doors after having a dangerous neighbor(long gone) & they were expensive but included their own steel frames. Sounds like yours is attached to your wood door frame. Maybe it was supposed to have a steel frame you were to buy separate. Ours have been in about 40 years. Reason for steel frame was wood is easy to rip door loose from frame, Bolts on steel frame make it very hard to get in.

They make low profile door levers that do not have a knob.
