Reminds me of a pebbly surface begonia like Morocco, Orococo, or Art Hodes.

Can you provide a link to the site you mentioned above? There have been a few articles in The Begonian in the last year from a couple of begonia hunters in Madagascar but I don't remember seeing one like this in those articles.

From menu on right, click on Catalogue of the Living Collections, RBGE Accession # 201322223, then Begonia lyallii A.DC. , 20132223A, Collected in Madagascar, Collected by Smrzova, Eva, Collection #9. Of the 20 images, #18 & 19 are closest to my plants.

I went back and bought a second one today - and rescued 3 more broken leaves.

Had all kinds of problems finding what you are talking about. Right off the bat it was the web site you gave came up with a message that the site was for sale. I finally tried some other methods and got to their home page.

I could then enter begonias looking for the information you provided. I found lyallii (I have this one) but could not find the #18 & #19. What keywords did you put in for your query? It returns nothing for Madagascar but a slew for begonia.

I'd love to see the photos you are referring to as I paged through 8 pages of collected begonias and then did a find for "mada" I only found a handful if that.

Ooops! Wrong, again. Back to the health food store yesterday and saw more of these, big and lush, labeled as Morocco Begonia. I don't know if it was my memory or a labeling error at store level. Web info says it was hybridized by Kartuz some years ago.

Good to know. Sure looked like one of the 3 I mentioned earlier.
