Honestly, I think the full glass garage door is much too modern for your house's "craftsman" style. Why not meet half-way with something along these lines?

I agree. The doors Lori shows would work much better. Not only that, I think those doors would not do well in Denver. I have seen them only in warm climates..

I love the modern glass garage door & think it will look fresh, clean & modern. Mixing styles & conventions is a great way to give the facade a mini-facelift without changing the inherent design of the property. Perhaps switch up the trim to something darker to unify the new w the old. It can project a bold, optimistic & confident sensibility if done well!

No, I would not put that garage door on that house for the reasons given. It is fine to mix styles but the elements have to relate in some way or you end up with "what were they thinking?"

I would advise against using that garage door if it is the only thing you plan on changing, one because it would be out of place with the current ensemble out of your house and would be too focus pulling (I.e. Your house would be all about the garage door).

If you did go this route, I would suggest also upgrading your front door to a similar modern style, change the house color (charcoal, medium gray, brown, buff, etc would all be appropriate) and punch up the front deck whether with accessories or a new architectural element to keep everything cohesive and the focus on the main entrance.

Btw, I like that the horizontal slat wall at the deck and landscaping at the driveway are already giving off a contemporary vibe. I would howler consider trimming back the large evergreen tree next to give the front door a little more breathing room.

Let me also add that contrary to what everyone else is saying, your house doesn't currently have a distinct style. It's mostly the color scheme that is giving off the Craftsman vibe. If you want to go modern instead, go at it, but go all the way. Your house could be stunning with a little added personality.

I live in a major metropolitan area and I have a few neighbors with those doors and many times if there is any light inside you can tell if they are home or not. With break ins on the rise I wouldn't want to advertise that no one is home, just a consideration.
