Roots were visible through the bottom of the box within the first week, leaves popped-up around the second week.

It may take roughly the same time to get a comparable size if grown from seed. It may prove useful if the plant does not create seeds on its own (Like this one). I have snapped the leaf from the mother plant by pulling it down, rather than cutting somewhere along the stem. This allowed me to get it along with the wide base. This may prove useful to get a larger surface area for roots to form, but I will attempt a leaf cut somewhere closer to the leaf and compare results.

Lower temperatures may ease the higher mortality from rot. When temperatures are high, leaves may shrivel even inside the humid box. My next attempt is to cut part or the whole of the leaf and leave the leaf axil (if there isn't too much variegation or lack of chlorophyll). Equally you may try the flowering stalk (after removing the flowers) but this has not yet been attempted.
