This has a perfume-like fragrance. In fact as I walk from my car to the back door of my office, I don't have to lean over to smell the blooms. The fragrance wafts into the air.

This rose bush has a southern exposure but is protected on 3-sides by buildings which helps hold the fragrance where we want it.

Very beautiful. I am surprised that it is so upright considering Austins are usually more sprawly. I guess it depends on the variety.

The Prince is not an octopus, jolly green giant, or other sprawling monster like some of them. It is more cylindrical and tops out around 6 feet tall, at least in my garden. Its flowers will burn in high temperatures. Other than that, I like mine quite a bit. The pictures presented here are good enough and are representative of this variety which does have a pronounced fragrance.

Mine has sprawled a bit. But, we had the very cold winter two winters ago with two nights -30F or colder, and one night this winter at -30F, so it is less sprawling. And the blooms do get droopy when wet, but we haven't had a heavy dew since it started to bloom. So, he is looking princely.

This was the first Austin I had.

My goodness that's a lot of blooms!!! Looks like a great performer!! I love that purple!! I might put that on the back burner of roses to get if I ever see it. Incredible!!
