Thank you for the information. I bought it bare-root and there is a little green above ground but it does not appear to be growing at all.
The photos I saw of it, I think it is beautiful.
I will be sure to keep the soil moist.

This one has been very difficult for us. Too little water and it dies, too much water and it rots. Too little light and it elongates, too much and it burns. Slow growing as well, not blooming until the 3rd year from seed. Like I said,not an easy one. After 3 years I do believe we have it wired, but this is not a species for the faint of heart.

It appears that it will be difficult for me too. I have it in full sun so that is most likely too much. I have been watering it frequently. Maybe it will survive. If it can survive my cats and dogs stepping on it every once in a while. :) Thank you for your reply.

There are different races of this species, and they all have problems similar to the ones described. I wish I still had the original form, since it had really brilliant flowers and a nice habit.

I hope mine does not die, but it is not looking very promising.
