Are the roots healthy? No rot?

I think a one month old seedling is too small to be shipped. The feeder roots will dry out and this could be critical for such a small seedling.

It can take some time for Adeniums to settle in efter repotting. Bottom heat and water is the way to go for "restarting" an Adenium. In your case, I would put it on a heating mat (but do not fry the poor thing!) in a place with filtered light, water it slightly and wait for new growth. The soil should be slightly moist and never dry out completely.

Yes, the roots are nice and healthy but there's not many of them. I think you were right about the shipping. Luckily it seems healthy aside from not growing. I'm also in the Northeast and our night temperatures have been going into the 50s...I guess I'm just expecting it to grow faster than it would in these conditions. Time to break out the seedling heat mat. Thank you so much :)

That is a nice looking seedling. I agree with Martin, the seedling was too young to ship. It is probably just still in shock. Also giving it too much love can prevent it from rebounding. When I say too much love I mean constant poking, prodding, touching, moving, checking the soil, etc. I know it is difficult when your precious is this cute, but you need to let it bounce back and show you that it is ready to put on growth. It will definitely take some time for new feeder roots to form. Larger specimens will take a shock from shipping, but seedlings will recover slowly.

Filtered light as Martin mentions is most important as well as a warm site.

Just a question? Your shells on the surface are old and not having salt residue?

Yes, the seashells are clean. I use them for my japanese moss balls too so I'm sure of it

Not sure if anyone still reads this, but just wanted to update. My baby has settled in, plumped up, and has already put out three new leaves since this post started. I think all it needed was you guys telling me to leave it the heck alone until it grew new roots (been a problem of mine in the past, rooting plumerias now, want to rip my hair out waiting...). So thanks, everyone.

I figured this was the case. I have a plumeria rooting as well now. I hope it takes. It was a gift from a coworker who went to Hawaii.

I have one that is similar in age. I let it sit in my bird bath for 5 mins in the morning, put it out in full sun during the day, and bring it into my sun room at night. Lost a few leaves the first few days until I started giving it more water. Now the leaves are bright green and growing larger, and the base seems to have gotten just a hair thicker compared to a photo I took the first day.

Seedlings are looking great Cynthia. I wouldn't repot them just yet if you can avoid it. The pots they are in look to be a suitable size until they get a little older. Do you have a tray you can germinate your seeds in?

I have some more 2inch pots. And some trays. Take out trays.

Egg cartons should work as well too, Cindi. Even the (plastic?) pot tray your seedlings are in would work but you'd have to drill holes at the bottom.

I have an egg carton almost empty. I have used egg cartons in the past, paper cups, Italian Ice cups. My grandchildren went through 2 dozen cups this weekend, but they mostly got thrown out. I,wasn't watching the trash collecting quickly enough.

Cynthia Curry Russo, I would not repot them. If they were mine, I would wait a year or so. ;-) But growth is pretty slow in my region/Denmark.

I'm in Tampa,Florida area, so mine are on the patio. It is quite warm and sunny most of the time. My original plant has been outdoors for two years. I am more concerned that the heave rains will beat up the seedlings.

My nieghbor, whom I gave a couple of seedlings, has had hers outside and said hers are bigger and fatter than mine. I have babied mine too much. Now they are in a sunny spot, and I tremble when I hear the thunder rumble.

I used to have many seedlings, and also thought they weren't growing as fast as I wanted them to be. They are slow grow plants.

never tamper them, while they're showing progress,move them at the right time, and it can accelerate growth, when you start seeing they are static that's the time to move them

I have not recorded the dates I planted my seeds. The first ones were about May 20. I think the next match was a couple of weeks later.

I just got my amazon delivery of worm castings and fish/seaweed fertilizer this afternoon. Just for my adeniums. I can add that to my data, once I start keeping it.

What would I do without amazon.

you can topped off your containers with worm castings, try mix it some come coco coir, because sometimes worm castings tend to clump up, it depends on the manufacturer, for mine i have my own worm bin and my worms has a special diet
