thanks Northeast, I definitely spent about 2 hours on google image. searched everything from eggs under leaves to specific types of insects, both pests and beneficials and even specific plant types. nothing gave me confidence of confirming the type.

I think rgreen had the best advice to just cut the leaf off and put it in a jar. So far I've done that and am waiting for some activity.

I'll post a follow up if/when they hatch.

Good idea on the jar thing. Make sure there are vent holes in the jar or they will be dead in hours.

Usually bugs plant their eggs on leaves for a reason. It is so that when whatever hatches, has a ready made and easily accessible food source - Your pepper plant.

I've had the leaf in a jar since Sunday. No hatching yet.

It looks like they are turning black from the picture.

I'm sure an Entomologist could offer suggestions on hatching, but my guessing stops at putting them in a jar lol..

some of them were starting to turn black prior to me putting them in the jar. I think that means they're closer to hatching. It's hard to tell from the first pic, but they were originally translucent. I think the blackness is just the insect or whatever on the inside of the egg growing... who knows, but I'll update if anything changes.

I think it means they are progressing to hatching. Monarch eggs do not get that grey looking but you can see the black caterpillar face in there. Those hatch in three days. Look at them through a jeweler's loupe if you have one.

Did they hatch yet?
