Geez, what kind of person would think that's okay for them to take plants that aren't theirs? I hope they do catch her. We had a weird plant thief woman in our neighborhood. If she could reach it from the street or sidewalk, she felt it was okay to take it.

I haven't had a hosta stolen (in real life), but someone did drop by and swipe a large fuschia hanging basket a couple of years ago. It wasn't a cheap, inexpensive one and my wife was thoroughly ticked off - so much so, she attached a "missing" ad on the garage post!!! Needless to say, we never saw the fuschia again.

We haven't risked hanging another one there since. Instead, I put a $6 Fire and Ice into a basket and fortunately that hasn't caught the attention of Mr. / Mrs. Sticky Fingers!

This is a crazed hostaholic. i am wondering sometimes that someone could dig up some hostas or conifers in the front of my house. The back I have fenced in, and there are also nice ones, with the fence having sharp pickets when seen from the street.

Theft. Not cool.

BC! Have I been sleeping or what? Why and when did I get the impression you were a female??? The leg was a dead give-away recently but until that point I referred to you earlier as a "hostess", lol. Please forgive me but I hope you got a good laugh out of it! (When I said hello to Glenn for you, neither one of us referred to gender so I had no clue.) lol

Bungalow, I'm not on FB. Did the Nursery post anything yet about the thief getting caught?

Not yet. The post has been shared by over a 1100 people. Someone that loves hostas will hopefully recognize her.

I know this is an old post, but just thought I'd share, yes, the thief was caught. I caught her when I recognized her stealing a couple days later at the shop next door. I actually had just had pleasant conversation moments before with her in store. She was quite disarming, sharing all sorts of personal info, including where she lived! She seemed vaguely familiar, but couldn't place her. When I went out to my car, it finally clicked when I remembered seeing the original post on FB from FG, and realized I was parked next to her distinctive, very expensive truck, which they also had posted. She was even wearing the same shirt!! Then I noticed she was taking large numbers of small items from the back of the place and tucking them down under the backseat. I was right next to her, watching. She even smiled and waved. Realizing she wasn't coming from the area where you normally exit, I went back in to ask if she had paid for them, long story short, the sheriff got a hold of her. Turns out she was nothing more than just a bored, compulsive thief. Her husband was at his wit's end. I believe FG was able to recover the stolen plants from her yard, still in their pots.

Well...if I was a bored, compulsive thief?...hmm... JK. May she receive the help and attention she needs, so she doesn't repeat this behavior.
