Iris tectorum variegata indoors

I ordered this plant on impulse, thinking I'd keep it as an indoor plant. Now I'm reading online and various forums that say they don't think I will be successful. Also, AFTER I ordered it, I read they don't like dry, hot environments. Well, I live in the high desert of S. California, and it's VERY hot and dry in summer. In the house, it would have a west window (lots of sun), a fan running 24/7 and air conditioning when the temp goes over 85F. Do you Iris experts think I'd have a chance of it being happy indoors? Pebble tray? Misting? Any suggestions welcomed.
