I think that 5-7" is a bit optimistic based on the one in my garden. I checked Clematis on the Web and they say that the flower diameter is 10-15 cm (4-6") early in the season and 6-10 cm (2 1/2 - 4") later in the season. Brewster Rogerson in this article from the ICIS says 4". That pretty much agrees with what I see in my garden. However, often flowers on a young plant may vary a bit from those later in a plant's life. I do love Ville de Lyon!
