Ugly Patchwork Drywall

I live in a 2 bdrm 2 bath apartment in Hollywood. The space is great but the bathrooms are horribly dated. The place is a rental but I wanted to give it a makeover ( thank you IKEA) add touches of my own style (whatever that may be) so I changed out the sink, bought a new vanity and wall cabinet. I painted it gunmetal with an accent wall in the Ralph Lauren Valencia green. People have said the green looks black and it just looks like expensive paint on a cheap wall. I'm not sure if any of it's working or what to add or takeaway. The biggest eye sore are of all is the patch up marks in the drywall. I have no idea what to do next. Suggestions?
