I like washingtonia by the way. I have one growing in a heavily shaded gully behind my house. It's growing very wide and has the greenest fronds I've seen! I was thinking of planting one under my huge camphors and seeing how it does.

I also found an article that mentioned yellow/brown spotting as an indication that I may be over watering. I'm not sure how often you water or how long they have been in the ground, but if the spots are spreading it could be over watering. I

I'm from southern Utah, and the majority of the nurseries down here are more corporate based, I love privately owns and operated nurseries. I feel like they put more care into the plant selection they offer. I just realized how awful the original post was. I was half asleep, my bad. But Tom, I called tha nursery and have arranged to be shipped a few palms. I'm excited.

Assuming you have not applied any nutrients, slow release fertilizer is best. Look for one with the percent nitrogen and potassium to be the same number or close. Potassium % can be higher than nitrogen %. Phosphorus can be the same percent as nitrogen, but lower is preferable. Look for one with full minor nutrients including magnesium. You can also use water soluble, if slow release is not available in your area.
