It's only urine which is non-toxic and usually sterile. Dogs do a lot grosser things.

For me, it's the thought at a human might mistake it for something meant for their use. Still, I'll back off my previous response and commend the designer for thinking of practicality. I'd add a sign at says "Dogs Only" to keep my mind from imagining other uses. Also, swap the art above for something dog appropriate. Black and white print of a bone would be good there.

Absolutely! It doesn't even look like a urinal when it's placed out of the bathroom context. It's nothing like teaching a dog to drink from the toilet and its perfect for the discerning dog who loves fresh running water :) well done.

Does the bowl hold water for just a certain amount of time and then drain? Or does the faucet flow faster than the drain drains? I think this is awesome. What faucet is on top that could point down like that? How long did it take to train the dog? So clever.

Yes, it's the Aquabrass fixture. The urinal is usually plugged or if I am out briefly and the dog is alone it gets unplugged and he turns it on by himself if thirsty and it flows more slowly than it drains so it is like a drinking fountain; he has not been interested in learning to turn it off when he is through...

I just think this is FABULOUS design. Thank you for taking the time to answer. How do you plug it? What did you use? I very well make copy you at some point. It's SO CLEVER! And easy to clean. Will it just turn off after it flows for a while? I haven't sold this automatic fixture although we love Aquabrass. I think the other commenters did not realize that this is not placed in a bathroom. We, too, are considering using a urinal as a sink for a really cool bus project that needs a basin with a tiny projection and we like the shape. We just haven't figured how to plug it so your response will be helpful.

Can you tell me the brand name of the bowl? We have a cat that insists we leave the bathtub dripping 24 / 7! She and her little companion dog could easily learn to use this!

Perfect! (Not gross.) I was trying to think of something like this for the doggie area of our laundry room. All I came up with was a small utility sink on the floor. This is brilliant. Our dogs use a lick-activated nozzle on the outside hose spout & I was going to get another for indoors (as our spoiled puppies can't always trouble themselves to go outside). I call it the Lick-A-Lot but I'm not sure the brand. I think it was less than $10 and we got it from our local feed store. It would solve your issue of turning it off, but it's not as pretty as the one pictured...

I guess it's all a matter of ur innate values.

I'm guessing the grossed out people aren't dog owners? anyway, fabulous idea. .. as you pointed out the water containment design has already been done, can be easily mounted at Dog height and they can activate it themselves for fresh water. I had been looking at horse waterers but this is much more practical. genuis!
