Cape Cod Kitchen Re-Do

This Spring we finished renovations on the kitchen in our second home in Cape Cod. Our goals were to accommodate more entertaining space, and use materials that were affordable but durable, due to the fact that we rent the house during some of the summer months.

We removed a wall that had separated our living space from the kitchen, which gave the kitchen/dining/living area a more open feel. We also removed a hall closet and shifted our refrigerator over to the right, which gave us more counter space.

Replacing the window with a three panel casement window also provides much more light.

Gorgeous transformation. The subtle color selections such as the sand colored counters work so well with the light gray backsplash, a slightly beachy vibe which to me is pure perfection.

What a difference! Looks fantastic. I especially love the contrast between the white cabinets and the teal table peeking out in the corner!

Thanks! It's is a wood picnic table I got from Lowe's and then painted and distressed. It adds some fun color to the room and makes the space feel more casual.

Hey I'm currently in the middle of closing on a house and your colors are exactly what we want for our renovated kitchen. I adore the after pictures, gorgeous work! Especially eye catching is the grey wall behind the stove and the stools at the bar table, simply fantastic choices.

isamuel71 there was a hall closet in that space (the door to the closet was facing the hallway). We already have another closet in that same hallway so we just eliminated this one to create more kitchen space. Definitely worth it.

Beautiful work! My only question...by leaving the wall to the right side of the refrigerator, do you need to pull it out to remove the shelves and bins for cleaning?

Wendy - We went back and forth with our contractor about this for a while. The right door of the fridge does not "fully" open but it does open enough to remove the drawers. I have a few clear bumpers on the wall to protect it. I decided to leave it as is (the contractor wanted to pull the fridge out farther and re-do the cabinetry around it) since it's our second home and we don't use the space regularly. If it were my first home, I may have considered revising it.
