What a lovely gift. Shaping it like the church windows was a great idea. I've borrowed this idea hoping I can get one made similar to this one.

It really wasn't hard but takes 2 people.

I free handed the curve on paper, (mark where you want to start the curve and end the curve at the top of the center of lattice panel, then draw the curve between the 2 points.) cut out and trace it with a black indelible pen on lattice.

Cut lattice with a jig saw.

We 1st zip tied the edging to the straight part and then would use the heat gun back and forth in about a 3" area until the edging would get warm and be bendable at the curved parts and then zip tie it in place to cool then move up the edging a few inches and heat/zip tie etc until you get to the point at the top.

We did both sides and marked the edging where it crossed so they would meet in the middle and be straight. I did cut a small angled piece of lattice that would fit in the edging at the point joint and screwed it in place on both sides to keep the point stable.

Then when it is cooled we used stainless steel screws on the back that were long enough to go thru the edging/lattice and into the other side of the edging a tiny bit. We did the screws because we have done other lattice projects and with heating and cooling from weather they tend to come apart if not screwed. Use stainless or you will have rust stains.

They are mounted with zip ties on PVC pipe that is slid over rebar that has been hammered into the ground.

Nice looking trellis! You may want to weave some fishing line through the lattice since clematis twines with the leaf stems and so likes something narrower (1/2" diameter or less) to wrap around.

That's a good idea but since i have honeysuckle growing with the clematis on other trellises they help each other.
