Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, but I didn't see another group where I thought it fit in any better and/or where somebody might know the answer...

And I'm guessing somebody in this category might know what's happening...

I'm growing wheatgrass in a 10" x 20" tray - top tray has holes in the bottom, bottom tray has no holes.

I keep it in the house most of the time, but in the morning take it out back and spray it with some water. I leave it out in the sun for a couple hours, then bring it in before going to work in the afternoon. The grass feels dry to the touch when I bring it inside.

Hours later when I get home - 10pm - the tips of the wheatgrass are wet. But it's just on the tip - a little drop of water right on the tip of them. It's not the precipitation in the air I don't believe - the grass outside shows no signs of wetness, and besides, it's been inside for 8+ hours.

Is the wheatgrass pulling that water up out of the soil, almost like a 'fat reserve' in case it runs out of water, it still has somewhere to pull it from?

I did do this batch a little different - skipped the part where you let it germinate in a bottle, and just soaked and put right in the tray after that, and no soil on top of it. But I don't think that would make this behavior happen. I don't remember it in previous batches, but I really wasn't paying that close attention either, and they may have done the same.

It's doing really well, so no problems.

Just trying to understand what's happening.
