Yay! The only good squash bug is a dead one.

Another way to trap squash bugs is to drop a bad squash fruit (maybe one whose blossom end rotted in heavy rainfall) or to sacrifice one good fruit. Just cut a good fruit in half and toss it into a bucket of water near your plants. You don't even have to cut the bad one in half. Squash bugs will find that bucket of water with the squash in it and will flock to it. Generally once the squash bugs get in there, they drown. You can help ensure that happens by dropping a few drops of dish soap into the water. I prefer to do this with green zucchini or with a white or green pattypan squash so that there won't be a yellow squash in the water, as bees can be attracted to yellow squash. I also catch lots of June bugs and other pest beetles in the squash water as well.

Or, you can brush something like Tree Tanglefoot onto a piece of wood or plastic and they'll stick to it.

Placing a board on the soil near the plants provides a place for the bugs to congregate during the day to escape the heat. Then, you walk out to the garden, life the bug and quickly do the Squash Bug Stomp and stomp those suckers flat.

There's lot of creative ways to kill those suckers, but more of them just keep coming, unfortunately!
