2 weeks ago? You must be in a pretty cold zone....mine bloomed in February. Regardless, if it only finished blooming 2 weeks ago, then you are still within forsythia pruning parameters.

And rather than shearing the entire plant, if you selectively prune back only some of the most far reaching branches and leave the rest, you can take your time at it and still enjoy some flowering next spring.

To clarify further, you prune a forsythia by taking the oldest branches back as close to the base as you can get.

And it doesn't need doing as a matter of course or every year - only when the shrub is getting a bit scruffy or too big for its space. So if there is nothing wrong with the shrub in your eyes apart from a feeling that it 'ought' to be pruned you could just leave it be.

If, however, it is taking over your yard, you can certainly prune it. Just remember that all that outrageous new growth is what will flower next spring, so be judicious.

In my experience two weeks after flowering is exactly the right time to prune. There's plenty of time left for flowering branches to grow. Unless you cut it to the ground, you should have flowers next season. Please don't leave stubs. Prune back to another branch and angle the cut so a blunt end isn't sticking out.
