Does that mean very few it just small thorns?

I took a clipping from a rambler on the side of the road. It looks like *maybe* it's "Felicite Perpetual" (sp?). It is rooting really well. The leaves were tiny and they were all in bad shape but one of the cuttings that I stuck in a pot has new leaves. It's rooting like crazy in the pot and also in water. It is more 'thorny' than I would have imagined it to be based on the description.

I can post pictures later. I am hoping for an ID as well. It is simply beautiful in bloom. It bloomed the last week of May or so. Seems early but we are in zone 8A.
