Playing around taking Photo's today.

I was taking some photo's of some of my plants. Most are seedlings. Gives me a record/progress to look back on.

A seedling of 'New Yellow'. What I find interesting with this seedling is how it has produced so many branches and the leaves have stayed small. No pruning of plant or leaves.

This is a grafted plant I played around with to learn on. It is a Swazicum grafted onto an Arabicum scion.

These next 3 photo's are of mixed seedlings, I decided to give a pruning really early on to see what they do. This is the fun part for me when you have a bunch of seedlings to experiment with.

These are a mix of seedlings from seed of Dr. M. Dimmitt through a wonderful lady in Australia.

I have grown the seedlings when they have their first set of 5 leaves in the gritty mix, but with these Swazicum seedlings added a little more Coconut chunks to hold a bit more moisture. Have questioned putting them in the gritty mix when so young.

Atleast with the Swazicums they can take a bit more moisture and can withstand colder temps.

Got them outside undercover, but still get sunlight all day.

Rick, that is a lot of seedlings. How old is the first one? Is that arabicum?

Ladylotus, I received the seed for the Swazicums from a wonderful gentleman in S. Africa. He very kindly offered some to me and I was so excited. If I should come across any more or hear, I can let you know. Mark has some on the go also.

Marie, the first photo is of a seedling from seed of Ko's for 'New Yellow" an Obesum. I have about 3-4 of these and all the others grew totally different. This one had produced multiple branches and the leaves have stayed small. Not bloomed yet, but it will be interesting to see when it does.

I really want to try some multi grafts as you do this year.

Rick, feel the leaves and see if they are hairy in the back. Touch them and rub on them. Because they look like arabicum leaves.

Very impressive, Rick! You have such a wide variety of seedlings, it all tells a very nice story. It will be interesting to see how your graft progresses, the swazicum grafted onto an arabicum. This should make for an interesting combination! Thank you for taking the time to capture, post, and annotate your progress.

They all look soo good and healthy Rick! I really like the branching on your older A. swazicum's.

I wanted to ask. Do you grow your seedlings in the gritty mix too? How often do you water?

Ah okay. I tried the gritty mix before but not for seedlings. Maybe I should try some and see how they turn out. I like to use mostly coir. The plants really seem to enjoy it. I need to update my photos.
