The nursery who brought me a dozen banana "suckers" (2 to 4 ft. tall) and planted for me (I kept them stored in semi-shade for about a week by covering their roots and watering while waiting for the site to be prepared) told me to water once and then do nothing for one week. Is this correct and how often should I be watering the banana plants? The banana leaves browned and shrank, but not all, I think there are new shoots coming up but very slowly. The weather here in summer is constantly 18C-25C (65F to 77F) night and day, the soil is well draining, although not very rich soil I would say, but I added some fertiliser and blood meal (luckily brought a small bag of blood meal with me from USA, from Lowe's). Also, when should I expect the first harvest? We don't get below 45F here at night and usually 48F (9C) and above. I suppose 45-50F will kill these bananas anyway or at least they won't be having any fingers growing during our local winter. Would appreciate any advise regarding watering frequency and any other ideas since this is my first bananas.

Photo attached below is right after planting and mulching, a few days ago. The two other trees in between bananas are orange trees since the plantable land is so expensive to prepare. The soil filled for the planting bed is the same as the bumper pile seen on the right hand side.
