The sunlight get through even the clouds, just not as intensely. It's still a lot more light than they got while inside. We get a lot of high fog every late spring and in the fall and looks just like cloudy weather. It often lasts for weeks, and often doesn't burn off until late in the day, and my citrus do fine with it.

All it does here is reduce heat, so grapefruit don't sweeten up as much as in a really hot area. Lime and Calamondin don't need high heat to ripen, so it probably won't affect it much.

They may not need as much water, but that's probably the only difference, imo. The fact that they're growing well is a sign they don't care much about the clouds. ;)

Move to NJ, we've had sun.

I'm guessing that the important thing is hours of sunlight during the day. I have several growing under a 50% shade structure in my backyard in SoCal. No discernible difference in their growth. Just less water requirements. Nice in our present drought.

We've been having strange weather in CA too. We're going through a drought. But some days we have light rain and the next day it's hot. We usually do not have rain this late in June. The week after, it's cold. Nights are the same...it's been hot as in leave window open. Now it's chilly again as in, turn on the heater. But the days are hot. 3 of my citrus trees have started to flower again (Tango, Owari Satsuma, and Bearss Lime) oh and my meyer's lemon is blooming again too. The other 2 citrus (kishu and gold nugget) have not flowered again.
