Best to have closet system company lay out best design. Clothes take up 2 foot depth and shelves and drawers can fit in 18." Therefore 2 longer walls could be for clothes and shorter walls for shelves/drawers. Then you each would get a long walk of hanging and a shorter wall with shelves/drawers. You could put long mirror behind door and hooks on back of door for robes or PJ's. There will not be enough room for peninsula or island.

A top and bottom rod for - you guessed it- tops and bottoms might work for your wardrobe. A shelf at the very top can be for boxes. Reserve a foot or so of space for dresses and longer coats.

A convenient measure is to allow 1 inch per hanger. You can count your current hangers and decide if you want to keep everything til after you move or go through it all beforehand.
