Yes, that's likely. Borage needs perfect drainage and likes relatively dry conditions. I rarely lose a borage plant in a dry year, but in wet years they can go downhill and die rather quickly.

Same here. I had one flowering and then Bill came. It turned slimy brown, collapsed and died.

Yep. Always happens in a wet and rainy year. I tried to compensate by planting mine as high as possible and right on the edge of a raised bed so everything would drain down below it and out of that bed quickly, and I doubt that's enough to keep this last borage plant alive. I think it is the lone survivor for this year. At our house we already were too wet before the May rains arrived, and I was worried about the borage plants even then. We've had a little over 33" of rainfall at our house since May 1st, so I think the real miracle is that there is still one borage plant left. I expected to lose a lot of plants and only some of the most finicky ones (like borage) have died so I cannot complain. I let mine reseed every year, so there's always a chance that some random borage seeds from last year will sprout sometime this summer. Most years that happens, but the seeds from last year's plants may have washed away and may be down in Shreveport or someplace like that now.
