Hi all,

So, I have a plumeria that my friend who is moving just gave me. It is twenty years old, but scrawny and only about 48inches tall, with a handfull of leaves. How do I take care of it? My biggest concern is that it is in sandy soil...is that what it's supposed to be in? Other forums on here say "well-draining" soil, and I know sand allows water particles to move through without over-absorbing. The tree has lived in sand for 20 years, is it safe to keep it in it? (It's just plain sand from a river bank, not loamy and no silt or clay.) It was grown in the pot from a seed and is maybe an inch thick, has only bloomed maybe two or three times in its lifetime. What do the experts recommend for this plant? How do I transplant it? Does it NEED transplanted? I'm going to give it a home with full sun outside and a warmer climate (they had it in their home, which is a bit colder than seventy-three year-round).
