Is the chrome version really chrome?

In this size shelves, I am looking specifically for a chrome finish. I am finding a silver painted finish at other stores.

    Metro describes it as a nickel-chrome finish with a protective lacquer coat.
    The shelves themselves are not chrome - only the finish. We should also caution you that the posts have a zinc finish.

    Hope this helps you decide if it meets your criteria.

    I've owned this shelving from Metro in the black finish for 20+ years, and it is still going strong after having survived multiple cross country moves and re-configurations...if that helps any on the durability question.
