I don't think it really matters, as long as you are consistent and the quilt is square to start. By consistent, attached top and bottom, trim if necessary and then attach sides, or attach both sides, trim if necessary, then the top and bottom.

You're very welcome, Valarie, I've been following Bonnie for quite a few years and go back to her articles time and time again for her take on the various parts of quilting. I'm pretty sure she has something there for each step and I think it's awesome she has made it available for free to anyone that's interested.

Okay, that's what I did - sides first, then top and bottom. Three of the borders look pretty good. One might have a few small waves, but maybe that border will ease and lay flat when pressed. So happy to get that step behind me (first time putting on a border). Thanks for the link, Sharon! It was very helpful. Val, my quilt pattern is similar to your gorgeous Garden Gate quilt. Since my quilt is so muted, it was nice seeing yours using more vibrant fabrics.
