Your plant looks young. I'd probably leave it for now. During dormant season you could remove it and get a second fig plant out of it. It will likely be rooted.

I agree if it's coming from under the soil

But it looks to me like it's coming off from the trunk (although I could be wrong)

In which case I would prune it off to add vigour to the tree

Unless you want to wait and use it as a cutting to propagate

If mine being in cold climate and plant so small i would wait until next spring and if plant wakes remove.
If plant does not wake up after storage that little underground stem may save the plant
and re sprout as i have learned over many years.

I actually took off the small plant from the side and put it in water to start rooting. Hope I didn't do anything wrong :/

Hi, wish I had seen this sooner. I have a little fig tree with one coming out the side lower down and what I did a few weeks ago is just put in a little more soil so that the part of the stem where it connects to the main trunk is covered by soil and now it is putting out roots! Just an idea for if it puts out another one low down :)

I was going to suggest the same thing as BahamaDan. But let us know if the cutting roots in water.

I have rooted about six figs in water from small cuttings. I cut them, stick the tip in rooting powder then put in water and leave it by a sunny windowsill. Most take root, but a few didn't.
