Dining room lighting plans -- off center?

We are planning electrical for construction-- am I crazy to plan to have a chandelier off-center? I think I want to do a banquette against one wall with the chandelier positioned above the table. The other wall would have a sideboard. Sorry, not photos since it isn't built yet.

A built-in banquette or freestanding?
If you feel super confident that you would keep your dining room like that for a long time, I don't see why not--as long as the finished product looks good in the space.
