Fireplace Wall

Before: just a mantel with dark granite tile floating on a wall and separate shelving/media center pieces.

After: beachy rustic feel with textural stone facing up to the ceiling, cabinetry for storage & media components, and floating shelves for a clean look.

Great update - much warmer and enjoyable space! What does the dog think?

Nicely done, I like the asymmetrical base cabinets.

Thanks everyone! The dog loves it; his favorite spot is on a blanket in front of the fireplace. Under the TV are cabinets with metal mesh screen for component ventilation (cables are all run thru a "smurf tube" in the wall), and drawers on the right to catch all remotes, game controllers, attachments, and manuals. The next thing I'm doing is painting the wall a slightly darker smoky blue to really offset that stone. It's light & beachy right now but I won't mind something a little more dramatic.

Great job! Makes your room look bigger and very inviting. Great choice with the tight stacked stone.
