Kirk, the first photo (your seed grown one) is tremendous. What pure and crisp lines in colors. Stunning bloom.

The second seed grown one has an electric blend from one color to the next. Very nice first bloom on this plant.

In you photo of Beauty Queen. It looks as though the leaves have a mottling to them? I ask, as I Have one which produces beautiful blooms, but the leaves have a somewhat mottled appearance to them. Wonder, with mine if this could be some internal viral effect.

Rick, I agree about the seed grown plants. Love the first one the most. The second has a lot of promise. Houston hasn't had a ton of sunny days due to all that rain since Memorial Day weekend and with TS Bill. So I wonder how different the red one can be now that the sun has finally been showing up a bit more.

Beauty Queen does have a lot of mottling. And I've been wondering if it could be a virus as well. Especially with the splashing the flower gets and is never consistent. I've been pretty much debating keeping it or not. It hasn't been putting on a good show either.

Lonnie, your Beauty Queen definitely looks a lot better than mine. And now I'm more inclined to believe it does have a virus. I'm going by the splashing in my blooms and of course the molted yellowing in the leaves.

I looked closely at the leaves on your Beauty Queen. It certainly does look like a viral infection. I tried to find info in case my plants should get the same thing. I found one source that mentions viral diseases but very scant: http://www.nrsadenium.com/Abena-cultivation.php

Please share other sources you have found or should find in future that contain more detailed information about adenium viruses. Thank you.

Awesome link, Kadie. I'm not sure if you explored the site in depth. I just came across some images of diseased Adeniums on the same site here. Although a diagnosis is not provided for the diseased plants there are plenty to look at and compare your plant with, Kirk.

I wish I could find the link again, but I read somewhere that the 'blotchiness" is always a virus. As long as it doesn't damage the plants, I actually like the effects.

Beautiful flowers. I'm glad you are going to name the first one. You know I had hybridized other perennial flowers and they have National Societies that you register seedlings with including their name, flower size etc. Does the I've never seen anything like that for Adeniums. Am I missing something?

They have to tried to make a registry, but with no avail. This is what I have been told by well versed Adenium people.

I totally agree, Rick. Though I wish it could be done it's probably way too late in the game. Although I'd have thought the same with plumeria and other plants. But I digress.

So, I have decided to name these three. See picture below of why I'm naming it that and what it reminds me of.

Electric Plasma (collection). Not sure if I want EP 1, EP 2, & EP 3 or something along the lines of EP Fire, EP Explosion, and so on. Or just name all of them the same thing. Heck! Could go with EP Red, EP Pink, and EP Pastel.

Now I'm driving myself crazy. Uhg! LOL
