De-cluttering would be a good start.

Joni, I think you should look into getting new cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling so you have some much needed storage.

Joni, if you are keeping your white appliances, which is fine, that's what I have, I would get new cabinets in a darker stain or paint color. Which way are you leaning, new cabinets or refacing them?

Gray, and I would add a second row that ends at ceiling.

allllllllll righty now………….my first comment would be to tell you that the pantry type thing on the left needs a new long door to hide the shelfy mess in that area and to finish off your cabinetry on that side, plus some new drawer fronts, I see at least 3 missing.

Then about the color issue. I see the pics above, they look nice, but I think that your kitchen would look the largest all white……………….however, since the new white is now either light gray or light khaki. Then just do what you think you would feel most comfortable with.

Also please add some beautiful hardware to those cabinets. The white would not work well with all the dirty fingerprints.

Also, I suggest changing out that stove for a flat surface top, without that high knob panel, which is also helping to create a more cramped-in feeling.

Lastly, if you add a second row of cabinets above the existing one, then you will not only have lots more storage, but you could also play with the color of those new ones to coordinate w your bottom ones, giving you a very new look.

Oh, and don't forget that backsplash, why even the new self-adhesive imitation glass tiles would work beautifully and you could do that yourself!

You definitely need more storage to clear off your countertops. I would recommend moving your pantry over by the refrigerator to give you more countertop space by the range. Put the microwave above the range to get it off the counter. raise the cabinets to at least 42". I'm showing this in our natural shaker door. If you would be interested I priced this out in my white shaker door. I was guessing on some of the dimensions but I estimate this kitchen would cost approx $3700. Thank you everyone for your advise. The cabinets are about 20 plus years old. For those who said the cabinets need to go up to the ceiling. The ceiling is over 10ft. tall. I will be painting the kitchen a medium yellow color.

Go bold pick a color you love, it the cabinets are in good shape a coat of paint does a world of good for them. Definitely hire a pro to spray them it last so much longer.

If you don't mind the clutter ignore all those comments it is not what you asked. I would go navy blue or green with the yellow walls. Colored cabinets will make you smile and that's all that matters.
